Revenue stamps severed as a source of income for their issuers and were used to pay for a variety of services. Those stamps shown here marked impuesto (impost in Catalan) denote the payment of taxes. Another, resembling a food stamp, likely served as evidence of a property tax paid in full or possibly the right to inhabit property.
