Leo Szilard

Zerstöre nicht, was Du nicht erschaffen kannst.“

Do not destroy what you cannot create.”

-Leo Szilard

Leo Szilard was born on Feb. 11, 1898, in Hungary, as Leo Spitz. He was a talented physicist, biologist, and often-forgotten key player in the development of nuclear energy and the first atomic bomb. Szilard’s personal and professional papers are held in Special Collections & Archives of the UC San Diego Library and have served as a research resource for scholars for decades.
